Pain conditions encompass acute (short-term) and chronic (long-term) states with diverse causes, including tissue damage (nociceptive), nerve damage (neuropathic), and nervous system changes (Nociplastic). Treatment depends on the type and cause, focusing on symptom management and improving function, and often involves medication, physical therapy, and lifestyle changes.
A LITTLE BIT ABOUT ME
I have been providing counselling services to adults and students since 2007 and am passionate about what I do. One of my greatest rewards is helping people find the tools they need to overcome their respective hurdles, enabling them to move forward on a positive path.

Through CLIC Sargent I have been privileged to provide counselling services to cancer sufferers and their families and am able to offer reduced rates for these consultations.
I Volunteer at the Community Wellbeing Café at St Saviour’s Eastbourne, which provides a safe, inclusive space for people with mental health and wellbeing struggles, as well as those suffering from loneliness or challenging living circumstances.

Linda Veness, Holistic Health Practitioner
I offer a range of therapies — including Systematic Kinesiology, Reflexology, Reiki and Massage — to support you if you are living with a cancer diagnosis. With Kinesiology, I use gentle muscle testing to listen to your body, helping to reveal where there may be imbalances and guiding me in how best to restore harmony. My focus is always on supporting your emotional, physical, and chemical needs so that you feel more balanced and resilient.
Over the years, I’ve seen how these therapies can ease many types of discomfort, reduce stress, boost energy, support digestion, and strengthen the immune system. Most importantly they offer you a safe, nurturing space where you can feel cared for and supported — promoting a greater sense of wellbeing alongside your medical treatment and throughout your healing journey.
Through years of working alongside people navigating cancer and its recovery, I have witnessed the profound power of gentle movement, breathwork, and community connection. These practices offer far more than physical benefits—they create a safe space where individuals can reconnect with their bodies, release tension, and rediscover a sense of peace within. Movement, adapted to each person’s ability, helps restore strength, improve circulation, and ease fatigue, while mindful breathing calms the nervous system and nurtures emotional resilience.
Equally important is the sense of belonging and friendship that blossoms in these sessions. Many participants have shared that being part of a supportive, like-minded community helped them feel less isolated and more optimistic about their healing journey. They leave not only feeling physically lighter, but also uplifted and renewed in spirit.
My intention is to guide those recovering from cancer to find balance, strength, and hope in body, mind, and soul. These practices are about more than exercise—they are about gently reclaiming vitality, confidence, and joy in the present moment, while being supported every step of the way.
Regaining strength and confidence after cancer treatment can feel overwhelming, and Pilates can offer a gentle, supportive way to help your body heal and rebuild.
After surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation, many people experience fatigue, stiffness, or reduced mobility. Pilates provides safe, low-impact movements that improve posture, restore flexibility, and help the body regain balance, while mindful breathing and controlled movement promote deep relaxation and emotional well-being.
With Falconè Pilates Stott Mat, our Monday class is a welcoming option for beginners and or those recovering from cancer. The slower, considerate pace and carefully adapted exercises create a reassuring environment where participants can rebuild strength, mobility, and confidence at their own pace.
For those seeking a more personalised approach, one-to-one private sessions can be particularly beneficial, offering dedicated attention, individually tailored exercises, and offers more flexible scheduling to meet personal recovery goals. These sessions allow you to progress safely and comfortably, supporting a confident return to movement.
Shamanism is an ancient spiritual and healing tradition, and offers real support to individuals undergoing cancer treatment by addressing the emotional, psychological, and spiritual dimensions of healing. While it is not a substitute for conventional medicine, shamanic practices may help patients cope with the overwhelming challenges that typically accompany a cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Shamans believe that illnesses are predominantly caused by a loss of personal power or disconnection from one’s true self. To address this, shamanic practitioners may use a variety of techniques including extraction (removal of intrusive energies) and soul retrieval (reintegrating lost soul parts), aiming to restore an individual to their personal truth and power.
Central to shamanism is the idea of coming into “right relationship” with all aspects of life—including oneself, others, nature, and the unseen. This perspective can empower cancer patients to find meaning in their experiences and make peace with their past, present and destiny – however that may look.
Shamanism can also assist in the death and dying process, offering ritual, ceremony, and spiritual guidance to ease the transition.
Many patients report feeling more spiritually grounded and emotionally supported, which can enhance quality of life and foster a sense of resilience during treatment.
Jikiden Reiki, the traditional form of Reiki offers a unique and focused approach to energy healing that can complement cancer treatment. Jikiden Reiki remains closely aligned with the original teachings of Mikao Usui, emphasizing simplicity, natural healing, and direct experience.
For individuals with cancer, Jikiden Reiki can support physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. It involves the gentle laying on of hands to facilitate the flow of energy (“ki”), and removal of toxins (“byosen”) promoting deep relaxation and balance. This calming effect may help reduce anxiety, stress, and fear—common emotional responses to a cancer diagnosis and treatment.
Patients often report improved sleep, reduced pain, and greater emotional clarity following Jikiden Reiki sessions. The practice may also help with nausea, fatigue, and other side effects of chemotherapy or radiation by stimulating the body’s natural healing processes and clearing toxins more efficiently.
Whilst it does not replace medical care, Jikiden Reiki can work harmoniously alongside conventional cancer treatments. It offers a deeply respectful and culturally rooted method for supporting the whole person—body, mind, and spirit—during one of life’s most challenging journeys.
Sound healing is a complementary therapy that uses vibrations and frequencies from instruments such as gongs, singing bowls, tuning forks, wind chimes or even the human voice to promote healing and balance in the body. While it does not treat cancer directly or cure the disease, sound healing can offer significant support to cancer patients in emotional, psychological, and energetic ways.
One of the main benefits of sound healing is deep relaxation. The soothing tones help calm the nervous system, reduce stress, and lower cortisol levels, which is especially important for individuals coping with the physical and emotional strain of cancer treatment. This state of relaxation can improve sleep, reduce anxiety, and enhance the body’s natural healing response.
Sound vibrations also help release emotional blockages and promote a meditative state, which can lead to greater mental clarity, and inner peace. For many cancer patients, this emotional support is crucial in facing fear, uncertainty, and grief.
Additionally, some studies suggest that sound healing may reduce pain, ease nausea, and improve overall quality of life during chemotherapy or radiation. When integrated with medical care, sound healing can be a gentle, non-invasive tool to help cancer patients feel more balanced and supported.

Emphasises the mind-body connection and offers a holistic approach that goes beyond physical exercise alone. The meditative and mindful aspects of tai chi may help patients cope with psychological distress, reduce anxiety, and enhance their overall quality of life.
The "movement" aspect of Tai Chi stretches the tendons and muscles, draws in the positive energy, activates Qi and blood circulation, and refreshes the mind.
Practising Qigong helps to improve flows of Qi and move the energy in a smooth and balanced manner. Qigong exercise is done in slow motions. It promotes harmony between mind and body. It reduces stress and improves physical balance, posture, flexibility and our antioxidant capacity. It will help patients to relax by using breathing techniques to improve their concentration and mindful movements.
Physical therapies such as soft tissue techniques, joint mobilisations and the careful use of hyaluronic acid joint and soft tissue injections can support patients who have aches and pains.
Physical treatments for fatigue
Fatigue, a common symptom (suffered by 75-95% of Cancer patients) can be improved through Physiotherapy and undertaking a physical activity plan.
Fitness treatments for cancer patients
Physiotherapists will also work closely with Cancer survivors to restore fitness, independence and help patients’ with their return to work, which can be a daunting prospect after what is often a lengthy recovery process.
Mobility support from Physiotherapy
Some Cancer treatments can leave patients weaker with reduced mobility and, in some cases, at an increased risk of fragility fractures and falls. Working with patients to gradually build up their strength and energy levels. They will address specific issues such as reduced range of movement post-surgery, complications such as scar tissue, swelling or reduced balance and other functional limitations that reduce quality.
The role of the Physiotherapist is broad and is a crucial part of managing and improving patient outcomes following Cancer.
