Integrative Counsellor, Eastbourne, East Sussex.

Advanced Diploma (MBACP Accredited), BEd

Hello, I’m Lou.

I have worked in the counselling profession for two decades, both in the voluntary sector and in private practice. Over the years I have worked with clients of all ages who have come to counselling to help them navigate life transitions.

My aim is to support you in feeling more empowered, resilient and able to move forward with greater understanding and choice.

I offer short, or long term support, either weekly or fortnightly, depending on what works best for you.

My practice is shaped by my belief that we all need support at times; we all deserve to feel heard, respected, understood and accepted. My job isn’t to ‘fix’ but to listen, encourage and help you to explore patterns that may be causing you difficulties. This awareness can help you to reconnect with your inner strengths and resources, so you feel more able to navigate life transitions.

My Integrative training is relational and client-centred, enabling me to use a range of approaches and modalities, adapting to your individual needs. For example:

Transactional Analysis (TA), Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Gestalt and creative interventions, such as images, sand tray or chair work.

Typical Areas of Counselling I Work With

Anger, Anxiety, Cancer, Chronic Illness, Depression, Panic Attacks, Ageing and Life Transitions, Menopause, Neurodiversity, Relationship/Family Issues, Trauma, Dementia, Loneliness, Work-related stress.

Specialisms

Grief, Loss, Bereavement & Anticipatory Loss

I trained with Cruse Bereavement Care in 2007 and volunteered with them for 5 years, supporting clients and supervising other volunteers.

Since moving to East Sussex, I trained with End of Life Doula UK and as a Soul Midwifery with Felicity Warner. For the past 2 years I have volunteered with St Wilfred’s Hospice, visiting people with a terminal diagnosis in home settings, hospital and residential care homes. My approach is gentle and compassionate, grounded in deep understanding and lived experience of how grief can impact our mental and physical health, as well as our relationships and work. I also co-host a monthly Death Café at the Towner.
